Making a Difference in Memphis

Chairperson of Promotion

When the City of Memphis was punitively stripped of funding by the Tennessee state legislature, I created a GoFundMe to raise those dollars back and gifted them to the Office of Youth Services. I served as the Chairperson of Program Promotion for the Youth Guidance Commission.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. That same year, following my successful treatment, I founded ThyCa Memphis. I have offered both in-person and email support for thyroid cancer patients, survivors, and friends/family members of those diagnosed in the Memphis area. I also served as the Region 8 Lead for ThyCa.

Since 2017 I have volunteered with the American Cancer Society and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network as Tennessee's District 9 ACT Lead, Vice SLA in Training, and currently the Tennessee Lead Ambassador. Each year, I travel to Nashville and D.C.to meet with lawmakers and fight for cancer patients' and survivors' rights

Founder & Region Lead

TN Lead Ambassador

February 2021, I founded and established the Little Free Library on Johnwood in loving memory of Elden Walker, my childhood mailman. The free book exchange adheres to the Read in Color initiative. Recommended reading from this program can be donated through the Little Free Library on Johnwood Amazon Wish List, or cash donations can be sent through Venmo (@brittneymemphis) or CashApp ($brittneyblock).
